Langtang & Hemlambu valley are easily accessible trekking valleys, and also the nearest of all trekking routes from Kathmandu. These two valleys are combined as one trekking area by Langtang National Park. Langtang Valley (Namgodagam) and Helambu valley (Hyolmo -Ghankyirawa) are identified by Tibetan Tantric Masters as hidden sacred valleys (Be-yuls). Langtang valley is most admired for its richness in Tamang-Tibetan Buddhist culture surrounded by magnificent snow-caped mountains, beautiful bird species, and valley of flowers during spring and summer season.
The chief attraction of this area is Langtang mountain range in the north of the valley and several lakes in the south. This region is also famous for the culture of ever smiling Tamang, Sherpa and Yolmos. The region covers three districts -Nuwakot , Rasuwa and Sindhupalchok- starting at 554 m tropical climate giving way to alpine towards higher altitude.
The national park accommodates various species of wildlife including rare Red Panda, Musk deer, Snow-leopard etc. Common birds seen here are tragopan, impeyan pheasant etc. And the region is also famous for spiritual importance of Gosainkunda lake, for Buddhists, Hindu and Shamans.
The shortest trekking itinerary in the region is Langtang or Hemlambu valley or Paanch Pokhari- 7 days, and the longest is 17 days, Langtang and Hemlambu valley combined.
